CoDE PoD hostel is an urban concept designed to give travellers a central location and quality sleeping environment at a low cost. The Asian-style pod concept is the main unique design feature combined with secure keypad entry systems from which the name “CoDE” was derived.
We aim to bring cool and efficient design to city centre buildings.
We have a few minimum brand standards such as clean rooms, high quality mattresses and linen plus a good breakfast. In addition, we pride ourselves on having welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
It’s not rocket science, it’s just doing the basics very well.

Our pod beds are designed to make you feel like you are staying in a private room. The pods have curtains to provide privacy while you sleep. Each pod is equipped with USB sockets, LED reading light, hooks and a shelf. We’ve selected comfy mattresses and linen to give you the best sleep experience you will ever have in a hostel!
Over the years we have improved the design of our pods. One of the coolest new features of the new pods are the LED mood lights behind the headboard. Science has shown that different colours can have effects on your mood, so if you are feeling particularly tired one day just ask us to change to colour to bright yellow.
Each pod has a locker available in the room which is secured with a digital lock (no need for padlocks!)
The lock uses a 4 digit code of your choosing to securely lock away your personal belongings.
Our custom built code entry system is what inspired us to name our brand CoDE Pod Hostels.
The system provides an extra layer of security in our hostels. Each guest receives their own personal code at check-in, which can be used throughout the building and on the room door.
The codes are easy to use and very hard to lose 😉
We have plenty of female only dorms available at our hostels.
All rooms are equipped with plenty of mirror and hairdryers can be picked up from the reception at no cost.
Each pod has a small sticker with a WhatsApp number that can be used for any emergency.
This goes directly to our reception, who will come straight to the rescue!
Underneath CoDE The Court, discover The Lost Close – underground vaults and a close sealed off for nearly 200 years following Edinburgh’s Great Fire, only rediscovered in 2019. The space has now been transformed into an atmospheric underground venue for unique experiences.

Indulge in a delightful morning feast at CoDE. Savour golden waffles, creamy Scottish porridge, and freshly baked pastries that promise a perfect start. Alongside with an expertly brewed barista coffee or a comforting cup of tea. Breakfast at CoDE: where every bite is a taste of luxury.
At CoDE we don’t JUST do pods. We have cool private rooms as well.
The LoFT has a penthouse apartment on the top floor complete with kitchen, your own bathroom and roof terrace with a view on the castle (roof).
At the CoURT you have a chance to sleep in a jail cell without having to commit any crime (we call them sleeping cells). Some cells have ensuite bathrooms and some have a shared bathroom.
PERFECT location, royal mile, across from church, surrounded by restaurants, bars, boutique stores, has events, definitely try their whiskey or gin underground tasting, laundry room, attached bar/restaurant, cubicle type bunk pods that help with privacy and soundproofing
Easy to find, excellent location, clean, comfortable, luggage storage was an added bonus, friendly staff!

Localisation was amazing, breakfast was cheap and the staff was very friendly. Would come back for sure!
Good room. The pods offer sufficient privacy. The code-controlled safes are very large. The location is excellent and the atmosphere is good (although I didn't experience it myself on my short trip). Only the showers could be a little cleaner, but the ‘dirt’ I saw is hard to avoid and is created after a single use.
My second time here, was not disappointed. Would recommend to everyone. Clean, comfy, excellent location.
The staff were very friendly, everything was very clean, and the coffee was great. It was the perfect location for a first time visitor.
