Portobello Beach, Edinburgh

Portobello is the main beach of Edinburgh and while Scotland is not the best place to have a swim and sunbath on the beach, Portobello is still a very nice area to visit. You can walk along the beach or boulevard, also the historical town of Portobello is worth a visit.

You can follow the route below to see most of the sights in Portobello.

During the famous Fringe festival in Edinburgh in August, we have an interesting day at Portobello on the last Saturday of August. From noon the “Big Beach Busk” takes place along the beach of Portobello.
The Big Beach Busk knows no rules. Just Busking. You can be any kind of street entertainer you like from a one man band to an orchestra, a mime/robot, a choir, balloon modeller or magician. they’ve had brass bands and tenko drummers alongside salsa bands and some amazing singer songwriters.

Getting there:
From Princes street you can take Bus 26 which will take you right to Portobello in 15-20 minutes.
Check porty for more info and all events taking place at Portobello.
